D. Anderson is a Principal and focuses on life sciences
in the Health Care Investment Banking Group at Piper
Jaffray. His transaction experience includes a broad
range of merger and acquisition advisories and financings
for public and private companies.
Prior
to joining Piper Jaffray, he worked in the Health Care
investment banking group at RBC Capital Markets (formerly
Dain Rauscher Wessels) for more than four years and
in operations for RBC Dain Rauscher. Rob earned a Bachelor’s
degree in Finance and Economics from the University
of St. Thomas. |

Mike
Blanchette is a partner in the life sciences practice
at PRTM Management Consultants, a global management
consultancy serving the medical device and other industries.
Mike has more than 20 years in operations management
and customer support. He has managed a broad range of
projects in operations strategy, product development,
operations and quality systems.
Mike has designed and built field service operations,
built and outsourced manufacturing capabilities and
driven call center performance improvements. In addition,
he has extensive hands-on operations experience, having
held numerous management positions in service, operations,
process engineering and quality assurance.

Elizabeth
Brooks is a mathematician and health economist leveraging
ten years of pharmaceutical and medical device experience.
She currently serves as Vice President of Health Economics
for Reimbursement Principles, Inc. As a medical economics
consultant, Beth has a practical approach. She is skilled
at identifying clients’ business needs and scaling
useful and insightful economic strategies to prove and
communicate product value. Beth has designed close to
one hundred economic models and developed dozens of
overall ‘market development’ plans for her
clients.
Her
expertise includes: design of cost-effectiveness and
budgetary impact models; development of interactive
pricing and sales tools; and design, analysis, and communication
of prospective health economic studies. Prior to joining
Reimbursement Principles, Beth led the health economics
group at PPD, Inc., a major contract research organization,
and later led PPD’s business development effort
for medical communications, health economics and late
stage study services.
Beth
currently lives in Asheville, NC with her husband, Gary,
and her son, Alex. She enjoys the outdoors and spending
time with her family. Beth holds a Ph.D. in mathematics
from Duke University. |

Bill
Ellerkamp

Bill
Ellerkamp joined ExtruMed, a catheter centric component
manufacturer, in November 2006 as Chief Executive Officer.
Bill has over 25 years experience in the medical device
industry. Prior to joining ExtruMed Bill was Chief Operating
Officer with Ranier Technology Limited, an early stage
spinal implant company in the UK.
Before
Ranier, Bill was VP, Market Development for MedSource
Technologies, a publicly traded $180m medical engineering
and manufacturing services provider to the medical device
industry, where he was responsible for corporate strategy,
business development and marketing .
Prior
to joining MedSource in 2000, Bill spent over 18 years
with Teleflex Medical, a global diversified medical
device manufacturer, in numerous positions in the U.S.
and Europe. In his last position with Teleflex Bill
was President of Teleflex Medical OEM. Bill holds a
BA from Colgate University and a MBA from the London
Business School. He is currently on the editorial advisory
board of Medical Product Outsourcing, a leading industry
publication. |

to Abbott he worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers providing
audit and transaction services. Jim is a CPA, graduated
from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee and

Doug
has more than 20 years of experience in the field of
product design. Prior to founding Hiemstra Design in
1991, Doug was a freelance industrial designer working
for various manufacturing and consulting firms in the
San Francisco Bay Area.
Doug
has contributed to more than 175 product development
programs for companies including Target Therapeutics
(Boston Scientific), Guidant, Ventritex (St. Jude Medical)
Boehringer Mannheim (Roche) and Cardio Thoracic Systems
(Guidant). Doug holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree
from University of Kansas, where he majored in Industrial
Design. |

Joe
Kiani

Joe
E. Kiani is the founder of Masimo and has served as
Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of
Directors since our inception in 1989. He is an inventor
on more than 50 patents related to signal processing,
sensors, and patient monitoring, including patents for
the invention of measure-through motion and low-perfusion
pulse oximetry.
Prior
to founding Masimo, Mr. Kiani served as Regional Technical
Manager for Anthem Electronics, Inc., a distributor
of semiconductor and subsystem products and as Field
Applications Engineer for Bell Industries, Inc., which
distributes advanced semiconductor components. He also
previously served as Product Engineer at Unisys Corporation,
a computer manufacturer. Mr. Kiani is currently on the
Board of Directors of Saba Software, Inc., a publicly-traded
software company focused on human capital development
and management solutions and chairman of the Medical
Device Manufacturers Association (MDMA). Mr. Kiani holds
a B.S.E.E. and an M.S.E.E. from San Diego State University. |

Virginia
Perry, RAC, CQE, is the founder of and Partner in Perry-D’Amico
and Associates, a regulatory and quality management
consulting firm, specializing in medical devices. Her
over twenty five years of corporate experience in the
health care fields includes Nellcor, Inc. as Officer
and Vice President RAQA/Clinicals; Baxter Health Care
Corporation as Vice President of QARA; American Hospital
Supply Corporation as Vice President RAQA; and Warner
Lambert.
Her
experience includes a variety of products in the drug,
large volume parenteral and medical device fields in
both domestic and international operations. Mrs. Perry
received degrees in Chemistry and Mathematics. She is
a Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) and a Certified Regulatory
Affairs Professional (RAC). She received the RAPS Leonard
J. Stauffer Award – 2001 for outstanding contribution
to the regulatory profession. She has served at AdvaMed
(former HIMA) as a member of the Advisory Committee
to the AdvaMed Board on Product Technology and Regulation,
at the Business School Advisory Council for Chapman
College in Southern California, as a Regulatory Advisor
at the University of California, Santa Cruz and ASQ
Chairperson.
She
is an active member of the Regulatory Affairs Professional
Society (RAPS), and has served as a Director to the
RAPS Board, as the RAPS Director for the Pacific Region,
and as a member of the Regulatory Affairs Certification
Board (RACB). |

Nancy
Singer is President of Compliance-Alliance, LLC, a firm
that specializes in the professional development for
those employed in the drug and medical device industries.
She began her career as a prosecutor for the United
States Department of Justice where she did litigation
for the Food and Drug Administration. Subsequently,
she was a Partner at the law firm of Kleinfeld, Kaplan
and Becker.
During
her career, Ms. Singer served as AdvaMed’s Special
Counsel for FDA compliance and enforcement matters.
In her role as Special Counsel, Ms. Singer was a member
of the FDA/industry working group that evaluated and
suggested reforms to the FDA inspectional process. She
then represented the industry on the working group that
conceived and validated the procedures for the Quality
System Inspection Technique. She served as the industry
spokesperson on the educational programs that taught
QSIT to representatives of FDA and the medical device
industry. For her efforts, she received Vice President
Gore’s Reinventing Government Hammer Award and
the FDA Commissioner’s Special Citation Award.
Ms.
Singer received her B.S. from Cornell University and
her J.D. and LL.M. degrees from New York University
Law School. During her career, she taught food and drug
law at Catholic University Law School and George Washington
University Law School, was chairman of the Food and
Drug Law Section of the Federal Bar Association, and
is a retired Commander in the United States Navy Reserve.

Mary
has an extensive background in the area of Strategic
reimbursement for pharmaceuticals, biologics medical
devices, and diagnostics.
Currently,
Mary is a corporate reimbursement manager at BD. In
addition, Mary’s professional experiences relative
to strategic reimbursement include being a Principal
for Covance Market Access Division and a Director of
Reimbursement at Johnson & Johnson. While at J&J
Mary held various management positions in reimbursement
strategy along with positions in field sales, product
marketing, and managed care marketing during which time
she worked reimbursement related issues for a variety
of drugs, biologics, diagnostics and devices products
Mary
has been a feature speaker at Advamed Reimbursement
Specialists Program, the Society of Clinical Research
national meeting, Regulatory Affairs Professional meetings
and a feature speaker for the J&J partnership Lecture
Series presenting on the evolving economic and political
dynamics in the US healthcare environment. |
